Multiport valves in common sand and diatomaceous earth pool filters include six pillars: Filter, Rinse, Recirculate, Backwash, Closed and Waste. The Waste position bypasses the filter and also diverts water pulled in through the suction line from your pool down the sewer drain, rather. This setting is helpful for vacuuming the pool and also sending considerable quantities of dirt, organic pollutants such as algae in addition to certain chemical pool therapies straight down the drain in order that they don’t contaminate or overload the filter press.
Raise the water level from the pool to its highest stage without overflowing.
Turn the pool circulation pump away if it is on.
Expand the lever on the filter multiport valve to the “Waste” setting.
Turn the pool circulation pump on.
Close to the pool main drain valve and the valves contributing to any skimmers other than the one you will utilize for the pool vacuum source.
Mate the extension rod with the vacuum head, and then attach 1 end of the vacuum hose to the end of the extension rod.
Place the vacuum head into the pool in the deep end, and hold on to this extension rod to stabilize the vacuum head as it sinks to the bottom of the pool.
Stretch the vacuum hose out along the deck beside the pool to the skimmer vacuum vent.
Submerge the open end of the vacuum hose to flood the hose with water, pulling the rest of the hose into the pool as it fills with water and sinks.
Slide the end of the vacuum hose into the skimmer port to initiate suction through the vacuum line.
Using the extension rod, move the vacuum head in a back and forth pattern above the base of the pool to remove unwanted debris.
Discontinue vacuuming if the pool water level drops below the base of the skimmer you’re using as a vacuum vent. Continued vacuuming may suck air into the machine requiring the pump to be primed and air purged from the filter and lines.
Switch off the circulation pump. Unplug the vacuum hose from the skimmer port, and remove it from the pool.
Expand the filter multiport valve to the “Filter” setting.
Open the pool drain valve and any valves to other skimmers which were closed before vacuuming.
Turn on the pool door.
Add water to the pool if needed to return it to standard level.
