Wipe down the field which you are going to mend with a moist rag or paper towel. Dry the area with a dry rag.
Color at the nick or scratch with a touch-up marker in a color that matches the table. Shake the marker, and analyze it on the bottom of the table to make sure it is a good color match. Put on the touch-up marker directly to the problem place, coloring using the grain. Buff the place having a lint-free loth and allow it to dry. Implement furniture shine to the entire area to blend the newly fixed place in with the rest of the table.
Apply paste wax at a color that matches the table using a lint-free cloth. Rub the wax into the place in a circular motion until it becomes hazy. Then, shine the place with a tidy, lint-free cloth.
Color in the place with a brownish felt-tipped marker. When the place is dry, wax or polish the table to guarantee the place mixes with the rest of the table.
Steep a black tea bag in a mug of boiling water until the water meets the color of the table. Dip a cotton swab into the tea, and put on the tea directly to the scratch. Remove any tea from around the scratch to avoid discoloring the table.
Apply a few drops of iodine into a cotton swab, and rub the swab along the nick or scratch. Rub any extra iodine from the edges of the scratch.
Sand the nick or scratch lightly with sandpaper, and wipe away any debris using a tack cloth. Implement paint that matches your table into the place with a small artist’s paintbrush. Allow the place dry completely, and apply a second coat of paint if desired.
