Resin-treated polyester pillows are constructed of polyester fabric coated with a thin layer of resin, which works to boost washability and maintain the pillows looking fresh and sharp. In some instances, the coated fabric also helps make the cushion waterproof. These pillows may be washable at home together with your regular laundry detergent, provided they are a manageable size. Always check the cushion’s care tag and stick to the specific cleaning method suggested by the producer.
Washing Tips and Tricks
If the cover of the pillow is removable, then take it off and clean it on the gentle cycle in your machine; if it has detailed embellishments, hand wash it from your kitchen sink. For nonremovable covers or when you have to clean the pillow insert as well, toss the whole cushion in the washer and wash on the gentle cycle. You’ll need a second cushion or a couple of towels to balance out the load, depending upon your washer as well as the size of the pillow. Let removable covers air dry before putting them back on the pillow to avoid shrinkage, and toss complete pillows in the dryer on low.
